1. Introduction
- Operates as a Modbus-RTU slave over RS485 (default) or RS232.
- Accepts 5–36 VDC input with reverse-polarity protection and watchdog supervision.
- Rated for -40 °C to +85 °C operation with 35 mm DIN rail or screw mounting.
- Provides eight DI, eight DO with independent indicators, DIP switch addressing, and reload/reset button.
2. System Overview
- DI channels support dry/wet wiring, 5–255 ms debounce, and 32-bit pulse counting.
- DO channels are SPDT relays (COM/NO/NC) rated AC 277 V / 10 A or DC 28 V / 10 A; DO retention preserves states through soft or power resets.
- LED cluster covers POWER, WORK (heartbeat), DI1…DI8, DO1…DO8, TX/RX.
- Reload button (3–15 s press) restores factory defaults while keeping DIP offset.
3. Hardware Interfaces
- Power: V+/V− screw terminals plus 5.5 × 2.1 mm DC jack.
- DI block: COM+, COM−, DI1…DI8.
- DO block: For each relay channel n, contacts are NCn / COMn / NOn.
- Communication: RS485 A/B/GND by default; RS232 exposes TX/RX/GND on the same terminal block.
- DIP Switch: SW1–SW5 provide binary address offset (ON = 1).
4. Electrical Specifications
- Supply: 5–36 VDC. Typical draw ≈260 mA @12 V; 350 mA max with all relays energized.
- DI: 8 channels, <5 mA per channel, 5–36 V wet threshold, 100 Hz sampling.
- DO: 8 SPDT relays, AC 277 V / 10 A or DC 28 V / 10 A, <10 ms pickup, <5 ms release, ≥100 k electrical cycles.
- Environmental: -40 °C to +85 °C, 5–95% RH non-condensing, IP20 UL94 V-0 enclosure.
5. Modbus Communication Parameters
- Addressing: Base address set via holding register 40063 (range 1–255). DIP offset (0–31) is added on top for quick staging.
- Baud Rate: 600–230400 bps (default 9600) using register 40088.
- Frame Format: Standard Modbus-RTU with CRC16.
- Function Codes: 0x01, 0x02, 0x03, 0x05, 0x06, 0x0F, 0x10 supported.
- Coil Map: DO1…DO8 mapped to coil 0x0000…0x0007. DI1…DI8 mapped to discrete inputs 0x0000…0x0007.
- Automation Block: Starting at PLC 40129 (0x0080). Each rule consumes 16 bytes (Mode, Action, DO index, Trigger index, Param1, Param2).
- Pulse Counters: PLC 41281…41295 provide 32-bit counts for DI1…DI8 (write zero to clear).
- Special Register: 0x0800 write 0x5500 for soft reboot; 0x0055 for factory reset.
6. Configuration Workflow
- Connect via HYToolBox, Modbus Poll, or another RTU master.
- Discover devices with broadcast address 0 if necessary; assign a unique base address (register 40063).
- Adjust baud rate, parity, stop bits via registers 40088–40092 to match network settings.
- Set debounce (40067) and pulse edge mode (40066) per DI channel needs.
- Choose DO retention mode (40065) to preserve relay states through resets.
- Populate automation rules from register 0x0080 upward (two rules per DO → sixteen total).
- Configure heartbeat, broadcast behavior, and device naming (registers 40047+, 40064, 40077) for SCADA identification.
7. Automation & Linkage Rules
- Mode 0 DI Follow, Mode 1 Reverse follow
- Mode 2 Pulse output
- Mode 3/4 Delay on/off
- Mode 5 Cycle
- Mode 6/7 Absolute and interval timers
- Mode 8 Schedule (requires RTC register 40086)
- Mode 9 Daily timer
- Mode 10 Watchdog (DI heartbeat)
- Mode 11 Button mode
- Mode 12–15 Logic (AND/OR/XOR) and extended functions per firmware release
Rule capacity = 8 DO × 2 rules = 16 stored automation blocks. Rules execute in ascending register order.
8. Wiring Guidelines
- Power: Use 20–16 AWG wires with upstream 2 A fuse; keep leads short.
- DI Dry: COM+ through external switch back to DIx. DI Wet: External 5–36 V drives DIx with COM− return.
- DO: Install RC snubbers on AC inductive loads or flyback diodes on DC coils.
- RS485: Shielded twisted pair, 120 Ω termination at both ends, common reference ground.
9. Diagnostics & Maintenance
- Status LEDs indicate supply state, firmware heartbeat, I/O activity, and serial traffic.
- Reload button restores defaults (base address resets to 1, DIP offset retained).
- Maintenance checklist: retighten terminal screws every six months, inspect insulation, monitor Modbus retries.
